Post At A Glance
So I usually write this section at the bottom but thought it would make more sense to have it at the top of my articles from now on! If you’ve come across this article, welcome! I understand what it’s like to be sifting through websites trying to find information that you need. In the spirit of moving fast, I made this section! The post is about why I created a self improvement YouTube channel. If you decide that you can’t read the full article for any reason, at least read an idea that came out from this post so you could leave with a positive takeaway! Thanks for visiting my site!
The biggest part that stops people may be the fear of failure, but the greatest motivator is envisioning a life you could only attain if you were to start.

Intro
In a previous article, I talked about how I started an Etsy shop. I have to be honest and tell you that it didn’t last that long. I worked on it quite a bit for about 2 months and decided to stop recently. My two biggest motives for starting the side business were to make money and to provide consumers with a product that could make their days more positive. Quickly, my mind became wrapped in the idea of focusing heavily on the money to the point where I lost focus on why I originally started.
After I realized this, I no longer felt like the environment would be suitable for maintaining a balance between these two motives. In fact, the experience taught me to reassess my motives and to be honest with myself. And the honest truth is, I need more money. I have student loans that are a detriment to living my life, and I want to find a way to pay them off faster. If you feel like supporting my new channel in any shape or form, I’d really appreciate it! Check it out here! If you want to learn more about what the channel is about, here’s my intro video!
As much as helping people is important to me, I think that I’ve learned that helping myself is just as important if not more important. With that being said, 70% of my motivation for creating this channel was to create a second stream of income. Even though I have a full-time job, it’s not enough to pay for everything.
The student loans I mentioned, taking care of my family, and enjoying life for myself. 30% of it was to create a platform that could affect people’s lives in a truly positive way. I didn’t want to create videos that made people feel happy for just the duration of the video. I wanted watchers to leave the video with a sense of direction and a different positive perspective, my perspective.
What Exactly About My Perspective Do I Want To Share?
At first, I thought I would want to share my life experiences, but I have to say that my life has been somewhat ordinary. I have a similar story to other first-generation immigrants with parents being poor and trying to make it into America. So my initial thought was, I don’t have many life experiences that are YouTube friendly and are so entertaining that it hooks people in for most of the video.
Even if I could recollect a few of these experiences, there wouldn’t be enough to create a sustainable and genuine channel from it. What I have a lot of are learning moments! I’m a hard worker and have failed enough times to have a consistent amount of learning moments even to this day. I think that by sharing these moments and the clarity that these moments provided me with, I can provide value to other human beings.
How Do I Keep Track Of Fleeting Moments
I think that, for this channel, it’s more important than ever to write everything down!! Moments can pass by so fast and learning different ideas can fly out the window. While reading books that bring epiphanies or learning things while talking to other people, it’s important to write the idea down and later consolidate them. Additionally, before making a video, it’s important to make bullet points so that the video can be more concise.
I’ll start with a title and 3 bullet points so I can have enough to talk about and once I talk about the bullet point, I’ll transition to the next one. Once the bullet points are done, I’ll end the video and then write down any follow-up concepts I had to produce other videos! This can serve as an “idea generator” outside of creating videos by synergizing with others.
What Rewards Do I Expect In Return For This Effort?
There is such a thing as doing a kind favor out of the goodness of our hearts. I think this is not one of those things. I do expect myself to provide a positive experience for viewers, but I also have other motives. Note, I said other motives rather than ulterior motives. Both my motives for helping people and making money have a place in my vision and this channel. As such, both should be taken into account!
So what do I expect from doing this work? What am I imagining I receive when I establish that I’ve made this channel successful? Well, I imagine making extra payments on my student loans, seeing positive comments to validate the idea that I’m creating a positive impact, and feeling excited to post videos. I want to get to a point where I can’t wait to sit down and start recording to share my perspective.
In the general sense, I see a life I can have with more opportunities due to financial improvement. I also see myself becoming more understanding and better as a person as I continue to improve while sharing what I’ve learned. To embrace the idea that there’s an abundance of resources to improve ourselves and that there’s no need to hold back information and to be fully ok with being in a public setting. I see myself getting better at public speaking, organizing my thoughts, and propagating content I create at a faster and better rate than I do right now.
To make it easier on myself in remembering why I’m doing this, I like to try and consolidate all these ideas into a single vision. A vision that sits in my imagination but can be turned into reality if I put enough effort into my goals. With respect to this, what would be a vision that I can imagine now that would be brought into my reality by making this channel successful?
I envision myself looking at the analytics pages for YouTube, my website, and any other platform where I create content. I see that I have 1000 subscribers and an upwards trend. I feel comfortable and excited in the content that I make.
I feel confident in feeling like many people like my content. I see myself deciding that my first monetization check will go to something small but worthy of the achievement. I see myself celebrating with my girlfriend and close friends. I see myself being confident enough to reach out to brands for sponsorships.
